Making baby food

>> Friday, October 14, 2011

I have had my eye on the Baby Bullet ever since I saw the infomercial for it months ago. I never thought I would want to make my own baby food but the Baby Bullet made me feel like I should. The only problem was the price. Since my attempts to feed my daugher baby food have all failed, I couldn't decide if it would be worth it.

But then while out shopping a few weeks ago, I saw that Munchkin brand has a baby food grinder. The one I saw was $10, and I figured it was worth a shot. It worked great, and my daugther actually eats the food that we grind up for her. I have to say it was money well spent. You can buy one here for $7.99, or probably find it at any of your department stores.

Yes,super easy. It's dishwasher safe so just take apart 3 pieces and throw it in the top rack.

I plan to make my own baby food too. And while the Baby Bullet is super cute and looks great, I too am weary about spending so much money! My 7 year old daughter memorizes infomercials so she's always sprouting off gadgets I should buy and this is one she's always talking about!

I'm just going to use my blender. It has a puree function. If that doesn't work then maybe I'll go with this grinder but does it puree enough for a small child (6 months)?

I thought about using the blender as well. But the blender is such a pain (in my opinion) to pull out, and then have to clean.
I *think* it would grind it well enough for a 6 month old, but it kind of depends on what you are grinding. When we did bananas, that is of course easy to grind down. When we did apples, there is still a little bit of texture to it, but we just gave my daughter smaller bites.

I used a small food processor and it worked great. Then you can freeze the food in ice cube trays. Saves a ton of money in the long run, as opposed to jarred foods and you can get really creative with what you make. Try wholesomebabyfoods.com
